Fun Party Ideas for Graduation (2024)

A Peak at the Fun: Are you looking for some fun party ideas for graduation? This was a fun black and gold themed party that I’m sure you will love!

I’m not sure how it’s already that time of the year again! I love seeing all of the fun graduation announcements from friends and family. Now that my kids are older, it feels like I am going to a graduation every year! This year is special because I get to celebrate with my niece and nephew graduating from high school. Yay!

If you are planning a graduation, I have super cute ideas that you can add to your party. Everything from decorations, activities, and a super simple treat idea. These are all things that were included in my niece’s party and she loved every part of it.

Let’s start with some decoration ideas. The color scheme for my niece was gold and black. Obviously you can tweak the colors according to your party. But if you happen to be throwing a gold and black party, I’ve made it super easy for you to copy these party decorations. I’ll be providing all of the information and links to most of it! You’re welcome!

Decoration Idea:

Balloon Arch:

I am convinced that a balloon arch with a backdrop is the simplest way to elevate your party! Have you put together a ballon arch before? If not, just know that it is A LOT easier than it looks. Don’t be intimidated by it. I’ve done a couple and I’ve used all of the different techniques. You really can’t go wrong!

I bought the backdrop and the balloon arch on Amazon. The kit provided everything that you need to put it together (except for an electric balloon pump). Just make sure to carve out some time to do so. If you’re a beginner, I would suggest 2 hours. The other great thing about doing a balloon arch for your party, is that you can put it together up to 2 days before the special date! It’ll still look great if it’s up for a couple of days. For as inexpensive as this kit was, it provided a lot of fun!

Activity Ideas:

Graduation Memory Journal:

For this idea you just need a couple of items, and you’ll end up with a journal filled with memories for the graduate to have forever. I have a list all of the items I used to set up the table. It ended up being so cute!

How cute did that turn out?!

Once guests started arriving, I took a picture of them in front of the gold backdrop and printed the picture with my portable printer (you could totally print these pictures without the portable printer and add the pictures to the journal later). Then everyone wrote a note to the graduate next to their picture and decorated the page however they wanted. If I did this again, I would have pre-cut papers that they could write their notes on and add to the journal later. We had people waiting for their turn to write in the journal. I ended up using this journal to add other memories of her graduation day. This is just the start of the fun!

Memories Game:

This was by far my favorite part of the party. And more importantly it was Brinlee’s (my niece) favorite part. If you were to pick anything from this party to copy, it should be this!

A few weeks before the party I asked our guests to come up with a special or fun memory that they have had with Brinlee. It could be anything! The only thing is that they would have to bring something that represents their memory. We took turns sharing our memories and presenting the gift that represents it with everyone. We had family members of all ages that participated and it was SO fun.

I also made this cute Memories sheet so that we could have all of our guests write down their memory. We took pictures of Brinlee with everyone showing the memory that they brought, we didn’t use the portable printer for this. We printed the pictures at a photo center and added them to the journal after the party. Now Brinlee can have all of her memories stored in one place.

This ended up being the highlight of the night. It was so fun to see what funny things people came up with. A lot of us were reminded of memories that we had forgotten about. Please try this for your next party! You won’t regret it.

Get to Know Your Grad:

This activity couldn’t be easier. Simply print out the “Get to Know Your Grad” sheet above. Make sure to have enough copies for all of your guests. Have everyone fill out the form answering would the grad rather? Then the 3 open ended questions at the end. Let’s see who knows the grad the best! It’s just a fun little game that anyone and everyone can play. It might be fun to have a special prize for the winner of who gets the most answers right.

Easy Treat Idea:

DIY Cupcake Toppers:

How fun are these cupcakes?! The best part about them (besides from being so cute) is that they’re so easy! And you can do the prep work ahead of time so that you don’t need to add another thing to your to-do list on party day. To make it even easier for you, I have printable tags and everything I used to put these cupcakes together listed below:

The scrapbook paper is totally optional. But I loved how it turned out. If you want to give it a try, I’ll let you in on how I did it!

  • Cut your paper to match the size of a dollar bill. I cut mine 6 x 2.5 inches.
  • Fold your paper accordion style.
  • Fold the paper in half.
  • Use a small piece of tape to connect the two outer ends of the paper together.
  • Do the same thing to the other side of your paper so that you end up with a round shape.
  • Print out the tag and tape it to the center of your paper.
  • Tape your tag on the plastic stick and place in the cupcake.

I’ve given you a PDF with each tag that’s already the perfect size:
