What’s Special About This Resort
We’ve focused a lot on the beach all-inclusive resorts in Costa Rica, as these are the most abundant, and it’s easy to visit the mountains on a day trip. But doing it the other way around is totally feasible, and Los Altos de Eros Boutique Hotel & Spa should be a top consideration for that.
Located more than 5 miles from the nearest coastline, this small hotel is high above the lush greenery of Guanacaste, and the panoramic views magnificently stretch to the ocean in the distance.
An adults-only, spa-like atmosphere combines with this spot in the heavens for an exceptionally peaceful stay far from the rest of the world. A semi-challenging hiking loop is located at your doorstep, and activities like ATV safaris, ziplines, waterfalls, and all kinds of other rainforest adventures are in your backyard.
Guests of Los Altos de Eros Boutique Hotel & Spa always receive breakfast with their room rate but can opt for an all-inclusive package. This adds on daily lunch from the menu and a three-course dinner, plus unlimited drinks.

➞ What to Do
The vast majority of guests at Los Altos de Eros visit the spa at least once, and even non-guests from other resorts come for this amenity. If you like this type of relaxation, do not miss this highly acclaimed experience. Massages, facials, body wraps and scrubs, a hydrotherapy pool, and a waterfall are some of its most popular features.
Other wellness amenities include an infrared sauna, a panoramic-view yoga room, and a small swimming pool that looks out over miles of lush jungle and the Pacific Ocean in the distance. All of these things are reasons why visitors stay several days without leaving.
If you do decide to venture out of the resort, the remote location isn’t a problem. A hiking loop of around three miles through the jungle is found right outside the resort and is moderate in difficulty. Just a bit further, you can do things like soak in natural hot springs, explore volcanoes, raft down rushing rapids, and much more.
The nearest beach, Avellana, is only 30 minutes down the road, so you aren’t deprived of the sand and sea. Tamarindo and its famous waves are about the same distance.

➞ What to Eat & Drink
The only place to eat and drink at Los Altos de Eros is its only dining room. All fruits and vegetables are organic, chickens are free-range, beef is grass-fed, and seafood comes straight from the local fishermen.
Breakfast consists of Costa Rican coffee and typical day-starting dishes like fruit, local cheeses, eggs, and French toast. The lunch menu varies based on the local ingredients available, but guests can expect high-quality Costa Rican creations. Dinner is a three-course menu that also varies, with some examples being seared tuna or bacon-wrapped tenderloin.
Note that meals are served in a communal style, as the resort encourages guests to mingle. However, private dining can be an option if arranged. If you’d like to try one of the many restaurants in Tamarindo, a driver can be arranged for the round-trip.

➞ Room Guide
With just six guest rooms, it’s not hard to choose your accommodation at Los Altos de Eros – but with the popularity of this place, and the limited capacity, space can fill up fast. Therefore, we recommend securing your reservation as far in advance as feasible. All rooms have one bed, air conditioning, wifi, and luxurious amenities.
Poolside Queen & King Rooms: These four rooms are just steps away from the pool and provide just enough space for a relaxing stay. King rooms have slightly more space than Queen rooms. The indoor-outdoor showers are cool features and are very popular.
Detached Suite: This suite is located next to the main building and away from the pool area, making it a bit more private. It has a king-sized bed, and its main feature is a large, covered terrace with lounge chairs overlooking the greenery of the forest.
Eros Suite: The most romantic and spacious suite of all, this one overlooks the pool and miles of jungle, eventually leading to the ocean. It has a living room with a sofa that also transforms into a queen-sized bed to complement the main king. A Roman bathtub, spacious balcony, and personalized service make this the most exclusive choice.
